``THE ANCIENT PAST
In the beginning, the planet was nameless. Only the impossibly massive, singular landmass had a name: Eviden. There were vast oceans and countless islands from which many had come. The non-equines, like wolves, gryphons, and more, dwelt beyond the main continent. These creatures lay in wait for many centuries; both equine and non-equines alike lived in blissful peace, quite happy to remain ignorant of the other.
In the heart of Eviden, there was a massive herd of equines, one which was lead by a strong stallion who held dominion over all the others. This was Grytik. His reign was not an easy one to begin. There was scandal, betrayal, and bloodshed. Becoming the single source of power is not an easy process. He made many enemies. After many years and many failed pregnancies, Grytik and his lead mare conceived what they thought to be a single child. The Fates seemed to have smiled upon them but, in all actuality, had given them a difficult hand.
When it finally came time for his mate to give birth, the mare seemed almost impossibly round with the child. The birth went well, and she gave birth to twin colts. But, in light of the happy day, the mare contracted a serious infection that would gradually wear her down. The colts, both healthy, were named Pilot and Banner. Within a year, the lead mare passed away. Too distraught to consider another mare for the position, Grytik refused to choose another female for the role. Pilot and Banner quickly grew into strong stallions, loving each in a strong fraternal manner. But this bond was to be tested.
She was called Ismara.
This young mare was so beautiful that it almost hurt them to look at her. Her coat was impossibly black, clean and satin to the touch. Her eyes were blue and green, tinted with purple around her pupils. Ismara had come from one of the small islands. She had been elected to be a representative of sorts to make sure that, if politics had a new scheme, the surrounding islands wanted to at least be acknowledged. Ismara was a saint. She did nothing wrong but didn't do anything to act like she was better than others. Over the course of her time in politics, Ismara became loved by all of the herds in Eviden and by the non-equines on the islands. She was looked upon as a light for what progress had come by her doing and what might come. And she never asked for the attention of Pilot and Banner.
Her association with them was purely professional, at least to her. Both brothers, after some time, fell for her, and, once they told each other about their feelings for the black maiden, it became a competition. When Ismara refused both of them, Pilot and Banner were too caught up in their amounted hatred for each other. There was a meeting, late at night, between the three of them. Words were exchanged until it came to blows. Without knowing or being able to see, Ismara put herself into the fight in order to try and calm them down. But she was killed.
Neither Pilot nor Banner realized what had happened until morning broke, and, even when light showed the tragedy, they blamed each other. All of Eviden was heartbroken at the loss of Ismara. In her honor, her name was whispered all through the lands, and the planet was named after her. So, begins our story.
